# Free minutes and paying in the browser

> Two settings that help guests who cannot pay straight away: a few free minutes before they buy, and a way to finish paying outside the WiFi sign-in window.

Most guests join your WiFi with no mobile data. To pay, they have to leave the sign-in window for their bank app, and that is where sales get lost. These two settings fix it.

Both are in **Settings**. Only the **owner** can change them.

## Free trial minutes

Go to **Settings → Free trial**.

**Free minutes before purchase** gives each guest a few minutes of internet before they have bought anything, so they can open their bank app, make the transfer or check in. Enter a number from **0 to 30**. **0** turns it off.

* **Once a day per phone, across every router you run.** A guest cannot reset it by moving to another site.
* **Slow on purpose.** Free minutes run at the speed of the slowest paid plan at that location.
* **Not a sale.** They never appear in your revenue.

The card shows **Off**, or how many minutes are on.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is not the same as the 21-day trial of WifiPadi itself. That is covered in [Your subscription](/subscription.md).

## Pay in browser

Go to **Settings → Pay in browser**.

The WiFi sign-in window closes when a guest switches to their bank app, and the payment they started is lost. With **Pay in browser** on, the guest gets a link to copy into Chrome or Safari and pay there. A guest whose window closed can also finish the payment they started.

| Router | Default |
| - | - |
| **MikroTik routers** | On unless you turn it off. |
| **Nano Pi (OpenWrt) routers** | Off unless you turn it on. After paying, the guest rejoins the WiFi to get online. |

Turn it off if your guests find the extra step confusing.

**Nobody goes online until the payment is confirmed.** A guest who taps *I've already paid* waits while WifiPadi checks with your payment provider, usually a few seconds.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Bank apps need internet. If your guests have no mobile data, turn on a few free trial minutes above, or they cannot complete the transfer.
