# Your WifiPadi subscription

> The free trial, the two ways to pay for WifiPadi, and how to keep your workspace running.

This page is about the money you pay **us**. It is not about the money your customers pay you — that never passes through WifiPadi and goes straight to your own provider account. See [Payments and revenue](/payments) for that.

Go to **Subscription** in the sidebar. It is owner-only.

## The free trial

A new workspace gets **21 days free**, starting the day you register. No card is needed to start.

During the trial everything works and nothing is capped — run as many locations, gateways, devices and customers as you like. **There is nothing to pay and no payment to choose while the trial runs.** The **Subscription** page shows when it ends.

You will get reminders 7, 3 and 1 day before it ends, unless you turn them off in [Notifications](/notifications). They list the ways you can pay, so you can decide ahead of time.

## After the trial: 3 days to choose

You can't pay during the trial, so your WiFi doesn't stop the moment it ends. **You get 3 more days with everything still running** to choose how to pay. The dashboard and the **Subscription** page show the date your gateways will pause, and we email you when the 3 days start and again on the last day.

Those 3 days are free. A monthly period starts the day you pay, and pay-as-you-go starts the day you choose it.

## Two ways to pay

When the trial ends, the **Subscription** page leads with **Choose how to pay**. Pick one:

|             | Monthly                                           | Pay-as-you-go                                                       |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **You pay** | A fixed price per location, for 30 days, up front | For the hours each location is online, at the end of the month |
| **Suits** | Places that run all day, every day | Places that don't run all day, or when a month up front is too much |
| **Where**   | Every country                                     | Nigeria                                                             |
| **Price** | Shown on the page, in your currency | ₦30 per location, per hour online |

You can change your mind later — see [Switching](#switching).

<Warning>
  If you haven't chosen 3 days after the trial ends, your gateways pause until you do. Guests can't buy access in the meantime. Choose and everything switches straight back on.
</Warning>

<Note>
  Gateways, access points, devices, customers, plans, vouchers and staff accounts are unlimited on both. A location is the only thing that is counted. One campus with six routers is one location.
</Note>

## Paying monthly

Your bill is:

```
number of location slots  ×  price per location
```

The price is set per country rather than converted from naira, so what you see on the page is what you pay.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose your location slots">
    On the **Subscription** page, set **Location slots to pay for**. You cannot go below the number of locations you already have.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a provider">
    Pick Paystack or Flutterwave under **Pay with**. This is our checkout, not yours — it is unrelated to the provider your own customers pay through.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pay">
    You are taken to the provider's checkout and returned to the dashboard. Your paid period extends by 30 days as soon as the payment is confirmed.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Paying early stacks rather than replaces. If you pay with 10 days still left on your period, the new 30 days are added to the end of it.

### Location slots

Your slot count is how many locations you have paid to run. Once the trial ends, **Add location** is refused when you already have as many locations as you have paid slots. Buy another slot on the **Subscription** page and the location can be created.

Nothing is deleted when your slot count is lower than your location count — existing locations keep running. The cap only applies to creating a new one.

## Pay-as-you-go

Available to workspaces in Nigeria.

### What it costs

Each location is charged **₦30 for every hour it is online** during the month.

* A location that ran at all that month costs **at least ₦2,500**.
* A location is **never charged more than the monthly price** (₦15,000), however long it ran.
* A location that was never online that month costs nothing.
* If you were on pay-as-you-go for only part of a month, the minimum and the most you can be charged are scaled down to those days.

There are no location slots. Add as many locations as you like — each one is charged for the hours it runs.

### What counts as online

A location is online while **any** of its routers is checking in with WifiPadi, so a site with several routers is counted once. A router is still counted for a few minutes after it goes quiet, so a switch-off shows up shortly after it happens.

The simplest way to pay less is to switch routers off when you close.

<Note>
  Before you choose, look at **Pay-as-you-go preview** further down the **Subscription** page. It shows, for each location, the hours online so far this month and what **A full month at this pace** would cost, next to your monthly price. It is marked **Preview · not charged**.
</Note>

### Choosing it

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose pay-as-you-go">
    On the **Subscription** page, press **Choose pay-as-you-go** (or **Switch to pay-as-you-go** if you already pay monthly).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    The page tells you the first day you will be charged by the hour. Press **Confirm switch**, or **Keep monthly** to back out.
  </Step>
</Steps>

If you still have paid monthly days left, they run out first: pay-as-you-go starts the day after, so no day is paid for twice. Until it starts, you can press **Cancel switch**.

### Invoices

On the **1st of each month** you get an invoice for the month before. It appears in the invoice list on the **Subscription** page.

1. **Your wallet pays first.** If your WifiPadi wallet holds enough, the whole invoice is paid from it straight away and we email you to say so.
2. **Otherwise we email you the invoice.** Pay it on the **Subscription** page — by checkout, or with **Pay from wallet** once your balance covers it. You have **7 days**, and we remind you 2 days before it is due.
3. **If it is still unpaid after that**, your gateways pause until it is paid. Pay it and they switch straight back on.

Now and then an invoice shows as **Being finalised** for a short while before it is ready to pay. You don't need to do anything.

<Note>
  Invoice emails are service notices. They always send and cannot be switched off in [Notifications](/notifications).
</Note>

## Switching

* **Monthly → pay-as-you-go:** choose it on the **Subscription** page at any time. It starts the day after your paid monthly days run out.
* **Pay-as-you-go → monthly:** pay for a monthly plan on the **Subscription** page. Pay-as-you-go ends the day before, and that last part-month is on your next invoice as usual.

## The wallet and auto-renew

The **Subscription** page has a WifiPadi wallet. It holds prepaid credit with us. You can top it up at any time, including during the trial.

* **Top up** to park credit ahead of time. Referral rewards land here too — see [Refer and earn](/referrals).
* **Pay from wallet** settles a monthly renewal or a pay-as-you-go invoice from that credit instead of going to a checkout.
* **Auto-renew** is for monthly plans. With it on, we renew your monthly subscription from your wallet as your paid period nears its end. On pay-as-you-go you don't need it: each invoice is taken from the wallet automatically when the balance covers it.

Auto-renew runs a few days before your period ends. If the balance does not cover the bill, we email you a low-balance warning instead of failing silently — that warning is a service notice and cannot be switched off.

## If your workspace is paused

Your workspace is **suspended** when:

* 3 days pass after the trial ends and you have not chosen how to pay,
* a monthly paid period runs out with nothing to renew from, or
* a pay-as-you-go invoice is still unpaid 7 days after it was issued.

What that means in practice:

| What happens | What does not happen |
| ------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| Your gateways stop authorising guests | Nothing is deleted |
| Guests can no longer buy access | Locations, plans, customers, history and settings all stay |
| Your captive portal stops serving | Your payment provider keys stay saved |

Choose how to pay, renew, or pay the overdue invoice on the **Subscription** page, and everything switches back on exactly as you left it. There is no re-setup and no re-provisioning of routers.

<Warning>
  Suspension stops your routers authorising customers, so it is a revenue outage at every location at once. Keep enough credit in your wallet: it pays pay-as-you-go invoices automatically, and with auto-renew on it renews a monthly plan.
</Warning>

## Receipts and history

Every subscription payment, pay-as-you-go invoice and wallet movement is listed on the **Subscription** page. Payment receipts are also emailed to the owner — see [Notifications](/notifications).
