Every guest who buys WiFi looks at four screens on the way through. You can put an image on any of them — your own promotion, or one you sold to a local business.
Go to Portal Ads. Manager role or higher.
The four placements
Each placement takes one active image at a time.
Uploading
Choose the placement
One image per placement.
Upload the image
JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 400 KB.
Add a mobile version (recommended)
Optionally upload a second, phone-shaped crop. Almost all of your guests are on a phone. Without it, the desktop image is used on both.
Add a link and alt text
The link is where a tap goes. Alt text describes the image for anyone who cannot see it.
Keep the file small. These render on a captive portal over the same data your guest just paid for. A 400 KB creative on a 100 MB plan spends four-tenths of a percent of what they bought before they have loaded a single page of their own. This is why 400 KB is a hard limit rather than a suggestion, and why SVG files are not accepted at all.
If you are linking somewhere
A guest sitting on the login screen has not paid yet, so their device can only reach the small set of sites your gateway allows before payment. A link to somewhere outside that set will not open for them.
Links are safest on the connected and account placements, where the guest already has working internet.
Measuring
Each ad records impressions and clicks, charted per day. That is the number to put in front of a local business you are selling the slot to.
Use the toggle to take an ad down without deleting it, so its history survives.
